Three girls from Children of the Dawn participate in rope-skipping national championship in Free State

Rope-skipping is a new sport proving very popular among the children at Children of the Dawn who participate in various competitions throughout the year.

Three girls from Children of the Dawn Centre in Ermelo participated in a national rope-skipping championship in Free State during the school holidays.

Nokukhanya Maseko did the Dawn Centre proud when she walked away with a gold medal and Thembelihle Dludlu received bronze.

Thobile Mkhatshwa also participated in the championships but did not make a podium finish.

Rope-skipping is a new sport proving very popular among the children at Children of the Dawn who participate in various competitions throughout the year.

The girls practice everyday after school at the centre to perfect their craft and the Ermelo contingent has been known to haul medals at most competitions.

Children of the Dawn is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and is a community care centre for orphaned and vulnerable children in Wesselton.

Three beneficiaries from Children of the Dawn in Wesselton participated in a rope-skipping tournament in the Free State during the school holidays. In the picture are the girls Thobile Mkhatshwa, Nokukhanya Maseko, Thembelihle Dludlu and Mr Tafayeli Zulu (Centre Manager).
