A man was arrested and charged after being found in possession of a black rifle with live ammunition in Eziphuzeni, Fernie on Sunday, 30 September.
According to Fernie Police, the man was caught by community members who alerted the police who were patrolling the area.
“Our officials, Constables Mfan’futhi Thomo and David Ndaba, attended to the call and upon arrival, found the man carrying a black bag and they requested to search it,” Fernie Police spokesman, Const Thabane Ngwenya, said.
Const Ngwenya added the police found the rifle with six live ammunition rounds and he was arrested on the spot for being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
