Man busted with R60 000 worth of marijuana at the Waverly Port of Entry

The police discovered 116 rolls of marijuana wrapped in brown tape and weighing 25,24kg.

Mayflower Police busted a 33-year-old man for dealing in marijuana on Wednesday, 12 September at about 3.50am at the Glenmore and Waverly Road in Mayflower.

According to Mayflower Police’s spokesman, Const Tryphina Utla, the Waverly Port of Entry Police were conducting a stop-and-search operation when they stopped a white Nissan bakkie and requested permission to search it.

“The police discovered 116 rolls of marijuana wrapped in brown tape and weighing 25,24kg with an estimated street value of R60 000 inside the vehicle,” Const Utla said.

The suspect appeared in the Mayflower Periodical Court on Wednesday, 12 September and the case was postponed to 19 September for further investigation.
