Letlhogonolo Shuping and his friends gift two women wheelchairs

The gift-bearers also build ramps in and around the women’s homes to make life easier for them to move around.

Mr Letlhogonolo Shuping, with the help of his friends, including Mr Scelo Lubisi from Ditsiro Tsaka Trading and Projects, donated three wheelchairs to two deserving beneficiaries in Chrissiesmeer and Ermelo last week.

Ms Gugu Molefe, whose plight was reported in the Highvelder of 27 April, “Gugu needs an electronic wheelchair “, and Ms Nthabiseng Motaung received the electronic wheelchairs during heartwarming celebrations.

The Christian Social Council (CMR) also joined the fray and gifted Ms Motaung with another manual wheelchair which she will use for basketball as she is part of the GS TVET College basketball team.

Mr Letlhogonolo Shuping and his friend, Mr Sicelo Lubisi, of Ditsiro Tsaka Trading and Projects, hand over food parcels to families in need in Chrissiesmeer and Ermelo Ext 32 as part of the Thuma Mina campaign.

The gift-bearers also built ramps in and around the women’s homes to make life easier for them to move around.

“In the spirit of the Thuma Mina campaign and my engagements with Ms Motaung, I just had to do something for her and Ms Molefe,” Mr Shuping said.

He added that despite all the hardships, the women have such a great outlook on life and do not let their disability burden them down.

The group also handed over eight food parcels to families in need in Chrissiesmeer and Ext 32.

“It is up to us as individuals and members of the community to look out for each other and to help wherever we can,” Mr Shuping said.

In sad news, the Highvelder received reports that Ms Motaung had been involved in an accident on Thursday, 23 August.

“A driver ran her over when she was using her wheelchair on the road, and she is in hospital. We appeal to road users to respect each other and be considerate of wheelchair-bound road users as well,” Mr Shuping concluded.
