UPDATE: Father dies after three children were found dead in Breyten

Three children were found murdered at their home in Breyten yesterday afternoon. Reports suggest the father killed them. When police searched for him, they found him at the train tracks critically injured by a train.

The father has succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a train.

Police are investigating three counts of murder and an inquest docket has been opened.

At Breyten yesterday around 3.10pm police received a complaint at Phosa village that three children between the ages 6 and 11 years old were found dead in the house.

According to police, their throats were cut with a sharp object and found next to their lifeless bodies were a knife and a hammer.

Police then later received information that there had been an argument at the home which led their father to fetch them early from school.

According to an SMS on the cell phone of the mother, the father had said he was going to kill himself at the nearest dumping side but upon police arrival to search for him, he was nowhere to be found.

Reports suggest that the father killed his three children.

The police received a call that a person was hit by a train. On arrival, the family members managed to identify the person as the father of the children, who was critically injured but still showing signs of life.
