A man was recently arrested for stock theft after being found with a slaughtered cow at his house in Slindile Location, Lothair.
According to the police spokesman, Const Mduduzi Dladla, the police were conducting a routine patrol when they received information about suspected stolen stock.
“Upon investigation, we discovered two live stock in a kraal not far from the suspect’s house and the suspect could not produce any identification or purchase of the stock,” Const Dladla said.
The police found the slaughtered cow hidden in one of the suspect’s houses.
The 53-year-old suspect was arrested and appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court where the case was postponed for further investigation.
The suspect is remanded in custody.
“The stolen stock is from a local farm near Lothair and we believe there is a syndicate involved in the stealing of stock from farms in the area,” Const Dladla, concluded.
