SASSA issues warning that green card not a SASSA card

Beneficiaries must note that SASSA has no control over the green card and does not recognise it.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is urging and warning all beneficiaries that the green card is not a SASSA card.

The green cards are given to SASSA beneficiaries by money lending companies because it makes it easier for these lenders to make deductions to the social grant.

SASSA is worried that there are some beneficiaries who are still using the green card to
receive their grants.

Beneficiaries must note that SASSA has no control over the green card and does not recognise it.

All social grant recipients who use the green card are not protected if something happens to their grant as the only recognised and protected card is the SASSA payment card.

SASSA is making a call to beneficiaries and emphasises that they stick with their SASSA payment card to access social grants.

Beneficiaries are urged to visit their nearest SASSA offices at any time to get help.

SASSA cards are only available at SASSA offices, not in other offices or to people who pretend to be SASSA officials.
