Gert Sibande District Volleyball League hosts Revival Tournament
Three teams participated in the Gert Sibande District Volleyball League Revival Tournament, including the Mpumalanga provincial team, Oshoek and Tectonixs.
The Gert Sibande Volleyball League (GSVL) hosted a Volleyball Revival tournament on Saturday at the Ermelo Sport Inn, in what was a curtain-raiser for the official league starting in early December.
The aim of the tournament was to revive volleyball as a sport and celebrate the newly elected executive structure of GSVL.
Three teams participated in the tournament, including the Mpumalanga provincial team, Oshoek and Lekwa Municipality’s Tectonixs.
The Mpumalanga team, consisting of Ermelo-based Flamingos players, showed their class, schooling the younger teams.
They will be representing the province by participating in the Volleyball National League taking place in Durban next month.
The Tectonix were crowned champions on the day by defeating Oshoek in the final match.
The GSVL will begin in December with matches held at the Ermelo Sport In and the Secunda Sasol Club.
