Man stabbed for cell phone and groceries

Bystanders who were questioned by police said the assailant had fled the scene.

The body of a man (26) with a stab wound in the chest was found on the Familiehoek gravel road near the farm Klipkrans at about 19:00 last Sunday.

Police spokesman for Ermelo, Capt Carla Prinsloo, said bystanders who were questioned by police said the assailant was known to them, but had fled the scene.

A search for the assailant has been launched and investigations are continuing.


On Sunday at about 23:50 a 39-year old resident of Kaylisha was robbed by three men who had broken into his home.

The men held the victim at knife-point and demanded money.

When the victim told them he had no money, the robbers helped themselves to a cell phone and groceries to the value of R1 000 and fled.
