GSDM signs service delivery charter

Change Coordinators were appointed from each department to facilitate the development of the Service Standards

The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) launched and signed the service delivery charter last Thursday at the mayoral chambers.

The charter entails the setting of Service Standards and getting all employees to be service-oriented, striving for excellence in delivering services to the community.

GSDM started the process of developing Service Standards in April last year after the accounting officer or municipal manager saw the need to improve services rendered by the various departments of GSDM, both internally and externally, to communities of Gert Sibande

Change Coordinators were appointed from each department to facilitate the development of the Service Standards.

In the Service Standards, the GSDM commits to responding to all written correspondence within seven working days from receipt; observing official working hours Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:30, Friday 07:30-14:00; at times consulting communities and all stakeholders to allow them to participate by providing feedback on the impact of service delivery provided to them; not allowing telephones to ring more than three times and answering promptly; providing accurate and relevant information to the communities regarding services and opportunities through various newsletters, Izimbizo, the website and other media, including publication of annual reports.

Members of the community are urged to make use of the services by visiting the GSDM offices on corner of Joubert and Oosthuise Street in Ermelo on working days or contacting the municipality at Records@gsibande.gov.za, fax 017 811 1207 and tel 017 801 7000.
