SASSA Mpumalanga also discourages its beneficiaries from using their ID documents or SASSA payment cards as security to get a loan from money lenders.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has warned social grant beneficiaries to be vigilant as the festive season draws closer.

Beneficiaries are requested to be vigilant when they collect their monthly social grant payments.

The Mpumalanga office has warned of fraudsters posing and pretending to be SASSA officials, offering unrequested assistance to mainly older people and people with disabilities.

All beneficiaries are urged to keep their pin codes and SASSA cards safe and not to accept help from strangers. In case of a forgotten pin code, the beneficiary must visit their nearest SASSA office to reset the code.
