Start your day by eating a live frog

This is famous author Mark Twain’s success advice: “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” This roughly translates to: Do your biggest, most daunting tasks first.

When you start your workday by tackling a big project (frog), the rest of the day becomes less daunting.

From the best-selling time-management book, Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy, Gina Trapani unpacks the frog strategy.

Choose your frog

  • When you have chosen your frog for the next day, write it down on a piece of paper that you’ll see when you arrive at your office.
  • Write down the tasks you need to complete the following day at the end of each day
  • Look at the list when you arrive at work  the next day.
  • At the end of each day, create a list for the next day.

And keep repeating.
