Whether it’s their fierce protection over their families or effortless cool, these TV moms have certainly given us the warmest feelings over the years.
It’s really hard not to feel like you’re part of the family when you tune into your favourite TV dramas and comedies and watch the matriarchs that hold everything together.
Some of the moms that have graced our TV screens over the decades have really left an indelible mark in our lives. To celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday, here are few TV Moms many of us wish we had in real life.
1. Ma Agnes (Isidingo)
Ma Agnes certainly became the South African symbol of a matriarch who takes control and helps her family get out of sticky situations. Though she’s no longer in Isidingo, her presence is always felt.
2. Claire Dunphy (Modern Family)
She’s a little neurotic but Claire Dunphy will do anything to make sure her family is functioning. We salute her for having dealt with husband Phil for so long.
3. Claire Huxtable (The Huxtables)
Mrs Huxtable is the embodiment of cool and calm career mom and grandmother who somehow has the time to be a full time lawyer, look amazing, constantly give advice to her children and run her household with ease.
4. Cookie Lyon (Empire)
She’s fierce, she’s street smart and will not let anyone mess with her family. Who needs a warrior when you have Cookie Lyon?
5. Mortica Addams (The Addams Family)
Mortica Addams is the quintessential witchy mom who always dresses in black, is obsessed with death, speaks French and will do anything for her children.
6. Marge Simpson (The Simpsons)
Moms can learn so much from legendary TV mom Marge, afterall, she’s been running a crazy household for more than two decades.
7. Charmaine Meinjies (7de laan)
She may have had an evil twin but Charmaine Meinjies on 7 De Laan is definitely a force to reckon with when it comes to her family and coffee shop.
8. Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls)
We can’t have a list of memorable TV moms without including Gilmore Girls’ Lorelai. She’s the ultimate “adorable” TV mom.
9. Mamokete (Rhythm City)
Mamokete was the heart of the community in Rhythm City with her spaza shop and charitable endeavors.
