MEC applauds justice system

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe has welcomed and applauded the Mpumalanga justice system for the sentencing of Douglas Mogakane.

Mogakane was sentenced to 96 years imprisonment by the Mhala Regional Court on eight counts of kidnapping, eight robberies, two counts of rape and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Meanwhile, Sello Mkhomazi was sentenced to 439 years and nine months imprisonment for raping ten women including a 13 year old girl in Vaalbank near KwaMhlanga between 2009 and 2012.

“These kind of cases restores the communities trust on police and helps strengthen working relationships between them,”said Shongwe.
