The stage beckons

This was an amazing opportunity for Megan and from there on nothing was going to stop her.

Megan de Beer (14), a learner at Ermelo High, starred in a Broadway Performance Showcase Musical; Swing, Swing, Swing, a musical revue infused with the pazazz of the 1920s and 1930s during the past school holiday.

Megan’s first week included vocal training, recording of songs and monologues, choreography, acting and attending a hair and make-up workshop.

The second week all the hard work was put together and the show was performed in front of more than 1 000 people.

Megan started dancing at the age of four and by the time she was 12, she had performed in several competitions and shows.

She participated at SADI (a South African dance competition) in 2014 and she was chosen for a South African team to travel to New Zealand in 2015 to participate at Neverland Dance Studios, one of NZ’s biggest dance studios.

This was an amazing opportunity for Megan and from there on nothing was going to stop her.

She choreographed her own dances and got help from experts in the dance industry.

Megan is currently training at Adèle Grey’s Dance Studio and enjoys the ballet and modern dance training.

Apart from dancing, she also enjoys singing and acting.

She has vocal lessons once a week at Ermelo High and also started drum lessons this year.

Megan loves being on stage and cannot wait for a competition or challenge; she’s a born performer.

She regards having these opportunities as a blessing and is thankful for everyone who has made it possible so far.

Megan believes that God gave her the talent to be a performer and she will do her best to perform for the rest of her life.

She hopes to grow and learn as much as possible and is working hard to become a dance teacher/choreographer one day.
