A long row of cement pavement slabs in front of a well known motor dealer in Kerk Street has been crushed by heavy trucks that are parked in the CBD at night.
It appears that the soil under the pavement has been eroded by storm water as well as water that flows from a nearby water main that has burst several times in the past.
“Not only do the trucks drive over the fragile pavement and crush the paving, making it unsafe for pedestrians, but they block the street-view to our showroom at night.
Some truck drivers also urinate into the holes in the pavement.
This causes an unpleasant stench which certainly does not find favour with our staff and customers.
I fail to understand the lack of law enforcement, especially at night,” said the motor dealer.
