Women not to withdraw abuse cases

"Women should not be afraid to open cases against their abusers"

“Women should not be afraid to open cases against their abusers because they are either bread winners or are of particular standing in the society,”said Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe.

He was speaking at the launch of 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Children abuse in Pienaar near Mbombela recently.

He said victims should report such incidences to the police and also assist them to investigate such cases so that they get resolved.

Shongwe also called upon traditional leaders to instill proper cultural practices and moral values among the people they lead.

He also highlighted the impact of alcohol abuse saying some mothers neglect their children when they are drunk and even abuse them both physically and emotionally.

He also called on liquor outlets owners to ensure that they comply with the law and not allow children in their establishments.
