Ermelo station commander leads the charge, boots on the ground

Instead of confining herself to an office, Gongongo opted to be actively involved in the community, leading her team from the front lines.

ERMELO – The Ermelo Police Station recently introduced its newly appointed station commander, Colonel Maureen Sango Gongongo.

The station has been under her capable leadership since September 1.

Gongongo said she does not like to sit around a office, and prefers to be out on the streets and have boots on the ground to lead by example.

“The crime in town is controllable and all the stakeholders are very hands-on and helpful,” she said.

Gongongo shared her commitment to Ermelo and said she had already met with many of the stakeholders in town to ensure they join hands and work together to minimise crime.

With the festive season upon us, she wants to ensure that the police are ready for any challenge it may bring.
