ERMELO – An accident at the Chrissiesmeer and Lothair T-junction claimed the lives of three people on August 11.
According to Captain Carla Prinsloo, the Ermelo police spokesperson, a Toyota bakkie with five occupants, two in the cab and three on the back, was travelling from Lothair when it overturned.
The driver and passenger were both injured and transported by ambulance to Ermelo Provincial Hospital.
“The three people who were on the back were declared dead on the scene by the paramedics,” Prinsloo said.
The Ermelo police are currently investigating a case of culpable homicide.

On April 27, the passengers of an NP200 bakkie were injured when they crashed through the safety barricade and drove into the veld.
Another accident occurred on June 14, and yet another on June 19 when a Toyota bakkie veered off the road at the T-junction.
