Former councillors transition to new roles in provincial legislature

Gert Sibande District Municipality’s speaker wished them all of the best with their new responsibilities.

Several former local government leaders from Mpumalanga have embarked on a new journey as they transition to roles within the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.

Councillor Dan Nkosi, previously the executive mayor of Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality, and Khethiwe Moeketsi, former executive mayor of Dipaleseng Local Municipality, both representing the ANC, alongside James Masango from the DA and a former councillor of Govan Mbeki Local Municipality, have been sworn in as members of the provincial legislature following the recent General Elections.

Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) speaker, Busisiwe Sekhonde, has extended well wishes to the former members of the council as they take on their new roles.

“We wish them success in all their new responsibilities,” Sekhonde said.
