She was about to leave for work when she was shot.

CAROLINA – Xolani Sidney Simelane (38) appeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on February 5 in connection with the murder of Zanele Zwane (27).

On February 7, the court struggled with electricity after an electric transformer in town had exploded, and the bail application hearing was postponed to February 13.

According to Sergeant Thabang Mokwana, the Carolina police spokesperson, the case was postponed to February 19 and again to February 27.

According to Mokwana, the victim, a mine manager of one of the mines outside town, was shot and killed in her vehicle at her place of residence at about 07:00 on January 25, as she was about to leave for work.

“The police found the vehicle idling and the victim motionless in the driver’s seat,” Mokwana said.

The vehicle had a bullet hole in each window on the driver’s side and one in the front passenger’s window.

The victim was certified dead on the scene by Carolina EMS personnel, with two bullet wounds – one in the back right shoulder and another in the head.
