Piet Retief police arrest man who hid rhino horns in car’s engine bay

They stopped the vehicle as it approached the CBD.

MKHONDO – The police arrested a 27-year-old man in possession of two rhino horns on March 9.

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a provincial police spokesperson, the police received information about the suspect transporting rhino horns, driving a white Nissan Qashqai on the Wakkerstroom road with Gauteng registration.

The two rhino horns were found inside the vehicle.

They stopped the vehicle as it approached the CBD.

A search was conducted and two rhino horns, wrapped in some black plastic bags, hidden in the car’s engine bay, were found.

Ntsako Prince Letswele was arrested and first appeared in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on March 10.

The case was postponed to March 14 to enable him to obtain a legal representative.
