{VIDEO} – Two arrested in Piet Retief triple homicide

Both suspects will also be charged with illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition.

MKHONDO –  Two male suspects aged 43 and 52 were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting incident at Longhomes Township in Mkhondo (formerly Piet Retief) in which a councillor, Sbonelo (Mthembu) Ntshangase (36), and Sandile Khumalo (51) and Sizwe Mbingo (40) were killed on January 13.

A murder case was opened, and a dedicated team of experts in the field of investigation was immediately assembled under the leadership of the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, to investigate the incident.

She has expressed her gratitude to the assembled team who investigated the matter and subsequently made the arrests of the two suspects.

The team worked tirelessly until they made a breakthrough after receiving information on the whereabouts of the two male suspects who were arrested yesterday, January 16.

An automatic rifle and ammunition were seized.

The 43 year old suspect is charged with possession of unlicensed firearms, and the 52 year old is charged for fraud, contravention of the firearms control act and contravention of the PSIRA Act.

More charges will be brought pending the investigation.

Other firearms and ammunition – allegedly owned by a security company – were also confiscated, but the matter is still being investigated to determine the rightful owners.
