Woman allegedly raped on her way to sell food to illegal miners near Hendrina Road

The police are still busy with the investigation, and no one has been arrested yet.

ERMELO – The police are investigating a case of rape that took place near the N11, Hendrina Road, on August 6.

A 21-year-old woman was on her way to sell food to illegal miners, when a man walking in the same direction joined her.

According to Captain Carla Prinsloo, the spokesperson for the Ermelo police, the man allegedly took out a knife as they approached an open veld, threatened her and forced her to undress.

“He penetrated her with his fingers, but she managed to get away and call for help,” Prinsloo said.

The police are still busy with the investigation, and no one has been arrested yet.
