Ermelo magistrate grants R30 000 bail to Louis Johannes Grobler

During Grobler’s recent appearance on July 22 he was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to today after the magistrate ruled that the application would be resumed once the court was notified that the J-88 forms were available.

ERMELO – The bail application hearing of Louis Grobler, a local farmer accused of attempted murder and assault has been resumed in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court today.

Many people have questioned the political parties’ involvement, claiming that the issue has been politicised and that the whole case has been misconstrued and turned into a racial free-for-all.

On various local and national media houses’ comment sections, some people are even under the wrongful impression that Grobler had killed and robbed the children.

During Grobler’s recent appearance on July 22 he was remanded in custody and the case was postponed to today after the magistrate ruled that the application would be resumed once the court was notified that the J-88 forms were available.

The court had to take a break at one point because a power outage halted proceedings.

When proceedings were resumed, Magistrate Thibedi Motsepe weighed in on the matter and made his closing remarks.

Conditional bail of R30 000 was granted to the defendant.

The court case has been postponed to 29 August pending further investigation.
