District municipality hands over starter packs to four businesses to commemorate Youth Month

Youth Month was ended on a high note with four local businesses benefiting.

ERMELO – Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) ended Youth Month on a high note and handed over business starter packs to four businesses on June 28.

Together with the department of social development, Ermelo police officers addressed the youth about social ills, the alarming rate of gangsterism, and criminal activity in the area.

Walter Mngomezulu, executive mayor of GSDM, joined the celebrations as the Ithafa Secondary School Choir performed.

The starter packs are aimed at helping fund these businesses.

“The youth of 1976 is source of inspiration, not only for us in South Africa but worldwide. As we commemorate them, we must remember that it was a generation that was faced with a different set of challenges from minors to adults and we are therefore here to aid the youth of today and present them with opportunities to help them withstand unemployment,” Mngomezulu said.
