Residents concerned about service delivery while Gert Sibande District Municipality wins ditrict game

The GSDM team is the national champions, having won the title in eThekwini in September 2019. 

The Gert Sibande District Municipality’s (GSDM) tug of war team participated in the South African Municipal Sports and Recreation Association district games which was held in Kempville Sports Grounds in Mkhondo on June 25.

The day saw teams from other local municipalities including, Mkhondo, Chief Albert Luthuli and Lekwa work up a sweat in the games and battling for the trophies and medals.

The GSDM team are leading in the national champions with a title they won in eThekwini in September 2019, before the games were forced to a two-year break due to the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020.

The tug of war was played and won against Mkhondo and Chief Albert Luthuli.

Mkhondo led in the soccer match and the volleyball, while Lekwa took the lead on the netball courts. Both teams won medals and trophies for their achievements.

While municipalities’ participation in district games may be of concern to some residents due to the deterioration of service delivery, the GSDM team is the national champions, having won the title in eThekwini in September 2019.
