The Toyota Fortuner remains South Africa’s most popular SUV. Part of this success can be attributed to continuously responding to customers’ evolving needs and incorporating market feedback in the product line-up, in the pursuit of producing an ever-better Fortuner for our customers. On this note, the following specification enhancements and adaptions have been incorporated into the range. Convenience specifications The 2.8 models receive an upgrade to dual-zone climate control while the range-topping VX grade inherits a panoramic view monitor (PVM) with a selectable view, and for audiophiles, an upgrade to the 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio system. The on-board satellite navigation has been omitted due to the preferred usage of smartphone apps via the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality. Safety and security enhancements All Fortuner models now also boast an enhanced smart entry system with additional security measures. In addition, VX variants receive additional functionality to the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) system in the form of blind-spot monitoring (BSM) and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA). Engine and transmission options The proven 2.4 and 2.8 GD-6 engines continue their duties. The 2.4 GD-6 produces 110kW and 400Nm and are available in both six-speed manual and six-speed auto transmission configurations while all 2.8 variants are paired exclusively with the self-shifter, producing 150kW and 500Nm. The fuel index ranges from 6.8 l/100km to 7.9, dependent on variant and transmission type selected. Pricing starts at R599 000 and includes a three-year/100 000km warranty and a nine-services/90 000km service plan.
