Cow electrocuted because of illegal connections in Wesselton

According to Mr Mandla Zwane, the spokesman for the Msukaligwa Local Municipality, the cable was open on the ground as it looked like there had been soil erosion during the recent rain in the area.

ERMELO – A cow was electrocuted after an illegal connected cable had been exposed in Wesselton on December 4.

According to Mr Mandla Zwane, the spokesman for the Msukaligwa Local Municipality, the cable was open on the ground as it looked like there had been soil erosion during the recent rain in the area.

He added that the municipality had not removed the illegal connected cable and no case was opened for this specific illegal connection.

Mr Zwane said illegal connections are a major problem.

The municipality removes them, but illegal connectors reconnect the cables the same day.

“The municipality has opened a number of cases of illegal connections and cable theft, and will continue to disconnect and remove the illegal connections,” Mr Zwane said.
