Police investigate inquest of man found hanging from tree

CAROLINA – The police are investigating the inquest of a man recently found hanging from a tree.

According to Sgt Thabang Mokwana, the spokesman for the Carolina police, a passer-by who was taking a shortcut between the eucalyptus trees between Caropark and Sobhuza Primary School on July 28 at about 09:00, saw the body and alerted the police.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the police found a man aged between 45 and 48 hanging from a tree by a rope around his neck, without any visible injuries,” he said.

Sgt Mokwana added that all role players were summoned to the scene and the man was certified dead by the emergency services’ personnel.

The deceased was wearing a red jersey, blue work suit trousers and brown boots.

He was also wearing a silver ring on his left ring finger.

According to Sgt Mokwana, investigations into this matter are still ongoing, and anyone who have lost a family member or have information is requested to contact Sgt Selby Mashaba, the investigating officer, on 017 849 2108.
