Collect your unapproved building plans

The City of Ekurhuleni is calling on all those who submitted their building plans that were not approved between 2014 and 2019 to come and collect them before the end of April 2021.

These plans were submitted and were not approved and the owners did not do any follow up to check if there were corrections to be made.

These building plans have been kept in the City Planning offices for years without any follow up from the owners.

According to the law if the property owner wants to build or extend a house must appoint an architect or a drafter to design a proposed building plan. This plan is submitted to the City’s Planning Department for approval.

In some instances, the owner is advised to make some alterations to the plan before it is approved.

Building without following the approved building plan may lead to the concerned structure or building being demolished at the cost of the owner.

Residents are urged to contact their nearest Customer Care Centres (CCC) to do follow up on their submitted building plans. They can also contact their regional managers at their nearest centres.
