Five 2021 must-haves in your bag

COVID-19 has changed what we consider essential in our handbags.

A year ago, none of us would have imagined we would be where we are right now. The pandemic has drastically changed our lives, human interaction and even the items we no longer leave home without. Whether you are going out to the mall, to meet a friend for lunch or any other permissible social activity, there are things you must be sure to have in your bag or purse. Here are some recommended items:

Hand sanitiser

We all thought we’d have ditched the sanitiser in 2020 already, but it looks like it is here to stay! The most important bottle you should have in your bag right now is not a bottle of designer perfume – but a sanitiser. Available in various scents and textures, a hand sanitiser is a must-have item wherever you find yourself. Whether you are using a spray or gel, if the sanitiser is lightly scented or carries that strong alcohol scent that gives your confidence in its efficacy, be sure you’ve packed it in. Use it regularly while out in public spaces.

A power bank and charger

To be reachable at all times, be sure you’ve included your power bank when you know you are going to be away from home for a while. That way, you won’t be left staring at a blank screen.

Chewing Gum

Always make sure you have some gum in your bag to refresh your breath throughout the day. Our mouths are couped up in masks whenever we are in public spaces, and chewing gum is a quick fix to keep that breath minty fresh.

Lip products

Your lips are bound to get dry behind that mask and there are few things more irritating than dry and cracked lips. Carry your lip products with you and apply them regularly to retain healthy and moisturised lips when wearing a mask. This will prevent you from licking your lips, which dries them further, resulting in saliva build-up behind your mask. Always have your lip products handy for easy access.

An extra mask

It is illegal to walk around without a mask on. Because some masks are fragile and are prone to breaking, always carry an extra mask in your bag. That way, if your mask snaps accidentally, you know you won’t find yourself in trouble or needing to cut your outing short. Rather safe than sorry!

We are still in the middle of a pandemic and it looks like this will be the case for some time. Be sure to pack these five essentials in your bag when going to public spaces. Be safe!
