Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI Clubsport 45 breaks cover

According to reports, the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI Clubsport 45, as well as the Clubsport, are unlikely to reach our shores.

It was in the year 1976 when the Volkswagen Golf GTI made its debut and to celebrate 45 years of the GTI moniker, Volkswagen has unveiled the Golf 8 Clubsport 45 special edition.

Based on the yet-to-be-launched Volkswagen Golf 8, the new Golf 8 Clubsport 45 sots between the GTI and R models and it is slated to go on sale in the UK in April.

On the outside, the new Clubsport 45 is bolstered with unique features such as a gloss black rear spoiler that matches the black roof and wing mirrors.  There are ’45’ edition decals and exclusive 19-inch ‘Scottsdale’ wheels finished in black pus a stripe around the rim.

The UK-spec comes standard with Akrapovic exhaust as well as the removal of the electronic top speed restriction. 

Its power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 221 kW and 400 Nm plus a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the front axle. 

According to reports, the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI Clubsport 45, as well as the Clubsport, are unlikely to reach our shores. However, the Golf 8 GTI and R models are slated to reach our market soon.
