Proteas team vs Malawi

The two have met 33 times and SPAR Proteas winning 20 times, drawing once and losing 12 times.

Following the 30 player squad that the SPAR Proteas head coach Dorette Badenhorst had compiled two weeks ago, the team assembled in Sun City just outside Rustenburg over the weekend for a training camp before a final team could be selected.

The coaching duo of Dorette Badenhorst and Dumisani Chauke worked with a pool of players and had the difficult task of selecting a team that will face Malawi at the SPAR Challenge International Test Series which will be played between November 26 to 29.

“We have had to look at a group of players and our challenge was always balancing experience with new blood. The goal is 2023 so we needed to make sure that we pick the best for this series and also make sure that each player will get a run so we can see what they can do.

“The mood in the camp is high and I think we pushed ourselves hard today at training,” said Badenhorst.

The Malawi Queens and SPAR Proteas will battle it out in a three match test series, and they are both ranked fifth and sixth respectively in the world according to the INF World Rankings. The last time these two nations met in Cape Town last year, the SPAR Proteas emerged victorious winning 56 –51.
