Shooting victim was Sedibeng municipal manager
Police are searching for an unknown suspect who gunned down Sedibeng municipal manager Stanley Khanyile in broad daylight.
It has been confirmed that the victim of the shooting in Meyersdal on October 3 was Sedibeng municipal manager Stanley Khanyile.
Khanyile has been the municipal manager for the Sedibeng municipality since 2017.
He was shot multiple times while sitting in his vehicle by an unknown gunman who reportedly fled the scene in a gold Toyota Cressida.
In August, Khanyile and two other accused appeared in the Eastern Cape Magistrate’s Court on charges of money laundering and fraud. The amount involved in the case totals R29-million.
Police have indicated that they have launched a manhunt for the suspect and that the motive behind the shooting is unclear at this stage.
