There is nothing as stressful as a crying baby for any mom. Worse, when the child wails when they have been fed, their diaper has also been changed and everything has been done to soothe them. The first suspicion may be that they are sick. This can leave any mom miserable and stressed. But there are measure you can take to ensure your baby stops crying non-stop.

Crying is normal

Crying a natural way that babies use to communicate since they cannot talk and express their feelings. Whenever they feel uncomfortable, in any way, they simply cry. Normally, babies cry when they are hungry, they have a soiled nappy, they are too hot or cold, their clothes feel tight or they are in pain. Some children want the presence of their parents or someone familiar and if there isn’t anyone, they will wail uncontrollably. Crying without any cause is habit in some babies. Even though crying is considered as normal, it may worry family members. Since the reasons for crying ranges from simple causes to more serious ones, it should not be ignored. The exact cause must be identified and managed accordingly.  Below are things you can do to make your child feel as comfortable as possible. If you suspect your child is sick, take them to the doctor to be 100 per cent sure they are fine- better safe than sorry.

Limit the crying of your child

  1. Most parents think that shaking the baby vigorously is the solution, but this may pose danger to the child.
  2. Babies want to be free to stretch and when they are wearing tight clothing that restricts their movement, they become irritated and cry for help. Loosen their clothes.
  3. It’s always better to open the windows for air to circulate and check if the baby is not too hot or too cold, as this is the reason they sometimes wail.
  4. Whether your baby has peed or soiled their nappy, the irritation will lead them to cry. Keep checking their nappy.
  5. There is nothing as comforting as the hands of parents. Pat your babies and or stroke her head and let her hear your soothing sound. Children can sense when you are tense so keep calm as you do this.
  6. Half the time, babies cry because they are hungry, so offer the breast or bottle. Feed them on demand.
  7. If it’s cold and they keep crying, cover them with a soft blanket. The crying should subside as the child gets warm.
  8. To stop the crying and to put the baby to sleep, go around the room where the baby sleeps as you gently rock the baby.
  9. Babies love music. Download baby music and play it for her. A sounding-making toy can also soothe her.
  10. A pacifier can be a great comfort.
  11. A breath of fresh air and sunshine might do you both good, so outside and get some much-need Vitamin D and a change of scenery.
  12. Put her on the cradle and her rock gently.
  13. Ask other family members to hold your child for a change of hands.
