Heidelberg Golf Club hosted their fourth consecutive German Beer Festival on November 1 which is an annual fundraising event all members look forward to each year.
The Poortje Hall acted as the venue for this entertaining affair with the club’s chairman Rian Hamman personally welcoming each guest on arrival and handing them a traditional German alpine hat which immediately set the tune for the evening.
Some members arrived with their leather breeches and dancing shoes in preparation for ‘schuhplattler’ dancing to traditional German music in the form of the De Eisbeins band from Pretoria.
Guests were treated to unique German cuisine, along with food specialties from South Africa.
Of course there were plenty of South Africa’s favourite beers ‘on tap’.
“This is one of the key events we host every year’, Rian said.
“This project cost us more than R100 000 to implement and would not have been possible without our sponsors, loyal members and 266 guests who are enjoying the festivities with us tonight”, He concluded.
