Cambridge FC bounces back

The Cambridge team won their match after a run of poor results.

Cambridge FC hosted Alberton FC at the Mackenzieville Stadium on March 11.

“After a series of poor results in recent matches, losing 2-1 to Ambassadors FC and going down to Els Park FC, our boys needed the win,” said the team chairperson, Ignatius Maphike.

The first goal, scored by Lucky Ndlovu, was from the penalty spot.

“The opening goal saw the boys come to life,” Maphike explained.

“The Alberton boys tried to get an equaliser, but the Cambridge defence was too strong.”

The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the Cambridge team.

During the second half, the Cambridge team kept possession of the ball most of the time.

Oupa Mbokazi scored the second goal of the match for Cambridge, while the third goal was scored in the 70th minute by Cambridge player Augston Leonard.

After another goal scored by Cambridge just before the final whistle, they walked away with a 4-0 win.

“We are happy we could turn the tables back in our favour,” said Maphike.

“We hope to keep this momentum, and with our new coach, Michael Meudane, we are working hard to get the combinations right and understand the players for good results.”
