Fans receive Carling Black Label gold medals
In celebration of Carling Black Label’s 50th Award for the brand’s quality and taste, Africa’s champion beer embarked on a journey to reward its consumers by producing 50 real gold medals to the value of R50 000 each.
The gold medals are certified so that if the consumers wish to sell their gold medal for cash, they can do so. The brand hosted the “Gold Medals Game Show” in 10 other areas in the country.
To celebrate the final giveaway, Carling Black Label hosted fans in Tsakani and attendees had the chance to win one of three gold medals, which is a fitting prize for fans of the most award-winning Carling Black Label.
The event was well attended by the 2020 SA Rugby Young Player of the Year award, Wandisile Simelane, who hails from the South, and has experience playing in one of the brand’s sponsored sporting cups, the Carling Currie Cup.
Popular actors such as Clement Maosa and Bohang Moeko, who both happen to be supporters of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates respectively, attended the final giveaway.
Having won eight Premiership League titles, the 2016 CAF Champions League and the 2017 CAF Super League as well as being the only South African to be nominated for the Fifa Puskas Award, the goal of the year twice in 2016 and 2020, Hlompho Kekana spoke about what it means to be “best-in-class”.
Kekana said, “To become the most-awarded in the continent takes a lot; it takes dedication.”
Three medals were given away at each event.
The first winner, Zakhile Gule from Benoni, said, “I would like to tell Carling Black Label to keep up with the good work of looking after us, the loyal customers.”
The 46-year-old father of two children said the victory means a lot to him, as he will exchange the medal for cash and use most of it for his children’s education.
Sibusiso Hlongwane also from Benoni was the second one to ‘find gold inside’ and said he will finally venture into his cosmetics business, which he failed to pursue in the past due to lack of funds. The 35-year-old used to work in the cosmetics industry.
Scholar transport driver Isaac Mnisi was the last of the trio and said winning the Carling Black Label Gold Medal is a huge financial boost for him. The 50-year-old from Tsakani said, “I thank Carling Black Label for assisting me and others to recover financially. They should keep doing this!”
