The 2021 FIH Junior Hockey Women’s World Cup takes place in less than a month.

The world cup to be held in Potchefstroom from April 1 to 12 at the North-West University’s Astro complex, will be a first on African soil.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH), The South African Hockey Association (SAHA), and North-West University (NWU) will host the u-21 round-robin 16 team tournament.

LOC chairman Sheldon Rostron, said, “I have long since admired the work ethic of South Africans, on and off the field. We’re working tirelessly to create an event that is absolutely unrivalled in execution and I believe that’s the reason behind the backing of some amazingly impressive brands.

“A tournament of this scale is not possible without corporate aid and I am truly grateful for their backing. We cannot wait to welcome our rising stars at this historic event.”

Leading from the front is fibre giant Vuma, a proud presenting partner of the tournament.

Lianne Williams, head of marketing at Vuma, said: “We’re very excited to help give these young hockey players a platform where they can showcase their talent and overcome any challenges they may be facing.

“This partnership is yet another example of how Vuma’s philosophy of ‘if we can, we must’ continues to guide us in connecting people and empowering the next generation of female athletes to realise their dreams of becoming professional stars.”

Next up is Super Group as an official partner, with all 16 teams guaranteed to travel in absolute luxury to and from all games and practices.

Adding to the already admirable list are official partners Altron Document Solutions featuring Xerox and Lebone Litho Printers as well as beverage heavyweight Twizza. Rounding up the partnership pool is the host and one of South Africa’s largest universities, NWU.
