Carlisle’s riders make Heidelberg proud

Riders from Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park competed at the SANESA (South African National Equestrian Schools Association) National Championships from 29 September to 6 October.

The Core league finals took place in Midrand at the Kyalami Equestrian Park (KEP). Eventing and Stadium Eventing took place at Inanda Country Base (ICB).
Five riders from Heidelberg’s Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park and seven horses and ponies were competing.

The Newcomer’s challenge took place at the Kyalami Equestrian Park (KEP) from 2 to 3 October. This is especially for younger children or those who have been riding and competing for a shorter time and at lower levels. The five young riders that competed had a fantastic opportunity to experience and compete at a ‘big show’ at a ‘big venue’. This is a priceless experience for them as they move into the more competitive classes.

The trainer Michelle MacDonald-Hutcheson says, “we are super proud of them and cannot wait to see what the future holds for these young stars.

The five young riders are Lenya Price, Makayla van Loggerenberg, Zane Pitout, Lize Diedericks (all Laer Volkskool) and Charlotte Reuter (Silver Oaks Montessori).

All the riders put in a great deal of time and effort into preparations for the Nationals, and this has paid off. Results like these do not come as an individual effort, but rather as a team effort. Nathalie Horn, spokesperson said that Carlisle would like to commend their grooms for their tireless effort and assistance, the parents, families and friends of the riders who offer tremendous support and a big thank you to the instructor, Michelle MacDonald-Hutcheson. Without her patience, dedication and expertise none of this would have been possible. Carlisle Stud is very excited to see what 2019 holds for our riders and their horses.

The instructor, Michelle says: “Our riders and their horses performed very well under very hot and dry conditions. Classes were massive with many riders from outside of Gauteng. My riders impressed me beyond words with their awesome sportsmanship and great riding, taking each victory and disappointment with amazing sense of gratitude. Nationals were well organised with 12 arenas running concurrently, with the best riders from each province competing. We are super thrilled that Laer Volkskool received the runner up President’s Award for best primary school in South Arica, when there were over 1 800 schools competing nationally. Again, super impressed with little Adrienne who landed 5th in the national schools log for senior primary (grade 4 – 7) on her fabulous pony Waterford Chocolate, she announced.
