Carnival City and MacSteel continued their sponsorship of this magnificent event, which was again hosted by the Rotary Club of Germiston. The race was perfectly placed ahead of the Cape Town Cycle Tour, which provided cyclists a final chance to test their fitness before heading down to the Cape.

The event offered a variety of distances from 120km for professional riders, to the standard 103km and the shorter 65km event, which also had a unique mountain bike only batch.

The race has adopted a ‘Ride-For-A-Cause’ campaign that saw competitors riding for their favourite charity. Charities such as CHOC, Pink Drive, SPCA and Muscular Dystrophy South Africa have been adopted by the event.

The overall winner of the race was George De Gouveia with a time of 2:21:09 and Tammy Perreira was the winner of the ladies division with a time of 2:23:07. Local cyclist Piet Rossouw won the veteran division (men between 55 and 59 years).
