Local boxer Anton Nel to defend his SA title
NIGEL - Local resident and South African heavy weight boxing champion Anton Nel will defend his title against Sithembile August on February 25.
The bout is scheduled to take place at the RDG Festival of Boxing Tournament at Presleys Night Club in Boksburg.
Nel (also known as Anton Rolling Thunder Nel) has been around the ring since 1992 and has won 19 fights, 15 of which by knockout. He has 12 losses and three draws. August is a novice from Port Elizabeth – he only has three wins from eight bouts.
Experts in the boxing circles said it remains a mystery how August was sanctioned for a bout of this magnitude against the far more experienced 47 year old Nel, but the fight is promised to take place in spectacular fashion.
Tickets will be available at the door and members of the public older than 18 years, are welcome.
