Real education happens outside the classroom

We must always evolved with the times so that we can be on top of the game.

“The principal goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done. Men and women who are creative, inventive and discoverers, who can be critical and verify and not accept everything they are offered.” – Jean Piaget

So, real education is not what happens inside the classroom but outside. What happens inside the classroom is the revelation of how much you don’t know and that creates the edge to go outside, seek answers and create solutions.

The theory you receive inside the classroom should expose your ignorance and create a hunger and thirst for more knowledge that will help you become a better person that will solve the problems of the world.

What is sad though is that you meet so many people who claim they are educated and they are finished with school, yet they are not empowered to solve the countless problems the world is faced with.

These people are trying to use yesterday’s solutions to solve today’s problems which ends up frustrating them because problems don’t get solved. We must change the way we think of education as something that happens inside of the classroom to that which happens outside of it.

The theory should only help us to create the framework and the basis of our thinking instead of seeing it as the solution to any problem we encounter.

The world is evolving at a high speed and what we learned yesterday is no longer a perfect fit solution for today’s problem, though it may have worked yesterday.

We must keep on cleaning and updating the lens through which we see the world to help us be always clear of the current challenges so that we don’t confuse them with yesterday’s challenges.
