Heidelberg Hospital promotes healthy lifestyle

Celebrations of nutrition week ended in a 2.5km fun walk through the streets of Heidelberg.

With the slogan ‘Eat right for a better life’, the celebration of Nutrition Week kicked off at Heidelberg Hospital during the week of October 7.

Heidelberg Hospital remains constant in promoting a healthy lifestyle for its partners and kickstarted a nutrition week campaign on October 9.

The hospital’s Dietetics Unit had a setting where employees had nutritional education on healthy eating practices, lifestyle modification, and health screening for employees.

According to dietician Sinenhlanhla Cele, staff members must take care of themselves by exercising regularly and following a healthy diet.

Nutrition Week celebrations ended in a 2.5km fun walk through the streets of Heidelberg.

“This year, we are shining the spotlight on the unsung heroes of the hospital, our employees. As dietitians, we are always focused on helping our patients, but we realised it is time to prioritise the well-being of staff members. By taking care of yourselves, you will be more empowered to provide exceptional care to our patients,” said Sinenhlenhla.

As the week progressed, the second instalment of the campaign saw employees participating in a 2.5km Nutrition Week Fun Walk, which took place on Friday within Heidelberg. The fun walk served as a prerequisite for a healthy lifestyle journey for employees who committed to venturing into a healthy lifestyle.

As a wrap-up session, the dietetics team conducted nutritional education sessions, which were beneficial to both staff members and patients.
