Monthly pool tournament donates to local charity
The next series of matches began on October 3, with a total prize of R2 500 for the winner to be announced at the end of October.
Golden Mane Bistro launched a pool competition on September 5, which now takes place every Thursday.
The competition caters for amateur pool players, and the prize money for September was R1 000.
The players went through elimination rounds, and the top performers made it to the finals on September 26 to determine the champion.
Anja Boers, the winner from September, handed over an R1 000 donation to the Lesedi Community Centre.
Gert Cloete, the owner of Golden Mane Bistro, expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported the tournament.
“We want to give the first donation to a charity close to my and Heidelberg’s hearts for the work they do in Heidelberg and the difference they make in people’s lives,” said Cloete.
Jaco Kritzinger, manager of the Lesedi Community Centre, was present to receive the donation.
Starting on October 3, the next series will conclude at the end of October, with the winner receiving a prize of R2 500.
For the October tournament, they request the players to nominate a charity of their choice, and they will donate to that charity.
The venue for the pool tournament is the Golden Mane Bistro on Voortrekker Street.
