Learners bring their best to the sport field

Various soccer players from the school were also selected for Team Gauteng to participate against other provincial teams.

Several learners and teams in the Khanya Lesedi School of Specialisation in Ratanda have excelled on the sports field recently.

The school’s cross country team won their leagues during the season and will represent the Vaal Province as part of the provincial team at the Athletic South Africa Cross Country meeting on September 7.

“The meeting will be held at the Izak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark,” said a proud Emmanual Nkabinde, sports manager at Khanya Lesedi SOS.

Kathleko Khumalo who won the 6km cross-country boys U16 with Emmanual Nkabinde.

The U19 boys soccer team did well during the soccer season and was crowned as the Kay Motsepe champions.

The team has been selected to participate in the Winter Games Championships that will be held on August 17.

The girls U17 team also went through to the Winter Games. They will participate in the Champion’s League starting on August 21. The U13 girls team will also participate.

As part of Women’s Month, The Sam Tshabalala’s Foundation supplied the girls in the school with sanitary towels.
