Entities speak on substance abuse

The community was sensitized to drugs.

The Ratanda SAPS held an outreach on drugs and substance abuse awareness at the Ratanda Shopping Mall on July 26.

The stakeholders involved were the Ratanda SAPS, the Youthdesk, AYCD (Ke Moja), Greendoor, the GBV Brigades, Siyabangena, the Department of Social Development, the Lesedi Local Municipality and the Lebone Drop-in Centre.

The drug awareness outreach was at the Ratanda Mall.

The community members who attended learnt to get help if they knew of anyone addicted or using drugs. They learnt about the services offered by AYCD (Ke Moja) on support and assistance that could be provided when people finally return from drug rehabilitation.

Various individuals responded to a request for help.

Sergeant Moss Maluleke, the Ratanda SAPS communication officer, will monitor the drug rehabilitation process of the people who take advantage of the help offered to ensure everything is done correctly and that each person is treated with respect and confidentiality.
