Bowlers brave the cold for social games

Chilly temperatures didn't put a stop to the fun on the green.

Heidelberg Bowling Club hosted a bowls open day on June 8 at the Heidelberg Bowling Greens.

Teams converged from as far as Frankfort and Vrede to participate in the open day.

Heidelberg Bowling Club president Elmarie Eygelaar opened the proceedings by welcoming everyone.

“We as Heidelberg Bowling Club appreciate everyone coming out even when it is cold and it is a great honour to host the fun day today,” said Eygelaar.

“We have players from all walks of life and ages playing here today with the oldest competitor being 92.”
Altogether 96 teams competed on the day.

Heidelberg entered 12 teams, Nigel three and there were various other teams from Standerton, Vrede, Springs and Delmas to name a few.

With stiff competition, the players enjoyed the day and the chatter warmed up the cold morning.
