Cambridge FC takes an away win

Cambridge's goals were scored by Kgotso Makhura, Samkelo Nhlapo and Sphiwe Makhubo.

Cambridge Football Club travelled to Sunward Park to face bottom-of-the-log side, Diambars Sunward Park Football Club on March 16.

A committed Cambridge outfit looking to close the gap on log leaders Alberton FC started the match like a team with a plan and purpose and continued to clinch the game 3-1.

Cambridge FC kept possession of the ball and dictated play with build-up from the back. Sechaba Mmuso was back in the team to show leadership.

Cambridge scored off a penalty kick in the 40th minute to break the deadlock.

The half-time score was 1-0 to Cambridge.

Cambridge’s second goal was scored early on in the second half.

Sunward Park hit back thereafter with a goal of their own.

Cambridge scored their third goal in the 85th minute.

The third goal put some distance between Cambridge and Sunward FC on the scoreboard.

Cambridge’s goals were scored by Kgotso Makhura, Samkelo Nhlapo and Sphiwe Makhubo.

“We are taking it one game at a time and the boys should just try to be consistent. Patience on the pitch will enable more goals to be scored,” said Cambridge FC coach Minihle Cooper Dineka Mthimkhulu.

“Despite our financial challenges, the commitment that everyone is showing is unbelievable,” concluded club chairperson Ignatius Maphike.
